The New Farr25 OD Hit the water

Fuente info Scuttlebutt

Please check http://www.farr25.com/ for details

Farr 25 OD is a fast and fun to drive unique sport boat which has a superior upwind performance in her category and yet easy to handle. Although she is an OD boat, many features (ie. deck layout, central pod, etc.) are included with fleet racing in mind.
Farr 25 is exactly 25 feet which is 762 cm, spacious enough to fit two berths with sitting headroom together with all required gear and yet at an ideal length for handling with a crew of four.
Thanks to a pretty low VCG (435 kg bulb carried at 1.8m with a carbon keel) and proportional sail area relative to weight, Farr 25 is well balanced compared to similar boats. Her VPP reveals that she will even be able to match performance of bigger boats.
Farr 25’s deck layout was designed for competitive racing. Placing controls at arm’s length and elimination of nuisance were among top priority.
Farr 25 is built to a high standard with the following features:
· Corecell SAN foam sandwich construction with E-glass reinforcements in an epoxy resin matrix which each layer is vacuum-bagged separately to ensure a light yet strong structure.
· In line with her racing characteristics, the shell is coated with a polyurethane paint system instead of traditional gel coat for a superior coating in minimal weight.
· All carbon rig (mast, spreaders and box boom) is supplied by the leading racing rig manufacturer Southern Spars.
· 6HP motor is chosen to provide adequate power even against powerful breeze and current.
· Keel fin also incorporates a kelp cutter installation against snagging kelp and weed.
· For ease of operation, outboard motor is designed to be kept in a locker in the cockpit sole and swing to its place effortlessly via an articulating arm when to be used.
· Only hardware from reputable suppliers are used; rudder bearings from Jefa, deck hardware from Harken, Spinlock and Wichard, continuous furler from Karver.
· With ease of operation in mind, two primary winches and a 18” hatch are included unlike to similar boats.
· With longer courses and overnight races in mind, 45 lt water tank driven by electric pump with a hand held showerhead on deck, electric bilge pump, navigation lights and a battery which can be charged with the motor are all included in standard specifications. The equipment on board satisfies ISAF OSR Category 3 requirements.
Farr 25 is very suitable for club racers who take racing seriously
